Window upon the wall, a balcony
With a light chair, the air and water so
Mingled you could not say which was the sun
And which the adamant yet tranquil spray. – Visit to an Artist by Elizabeth Jennings
Engaging the mind without words or performance, the Fine Arts’ world of painting is an evolving feast for the creative mind, rather than fading into the background as time march on. Each stroke of the artist’s brush captures our existence throughout the ages, forever immortalising its subject as a reminder of what we once were, defying science’s ardent belief that time moves only forward, not back. The painter sees the world through a different lens than their peers, for they see the spirit of existence, whereas the writer documents it. It is said that ” a picture is worth a thousand words”, which is an adage meaning that complex, nuanced, or emotional concepts can be optimally portrayed by means of a solitary image rather than a detailed verbal description. And now, a new era dawns on the ever-changing canvas of Fine Arts, as Michele Poirier Mozzone paints the new world from a different perspective, visualising us from the world we emerged from many years ago – water.

Michele Poirier Mozzone, the Massachusetts artist who is taking the painting by storm, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Emmanuel College in Boston. Michele has exhibited her masterpieces in solo and duet exhibitions at Tambaran2 Gallery in New York City and at other fine art galleries. Michele’s painting has been widely recognised, as she has received awards in national juried competitions and is held in private collections internationally. Recently, Michele’s artwork has been featured in several notable art publications, including the International Artist, Artists & Illustrators, Pastel Journal, Cape Cod Art, Santa Clara Review, Artit, Glorious Sport and Pratique Des Arts. Her Fractural Light series of paintings (which you may access via the link in the above image) is a sight to behold, and, to quote the origins of Michele’s inspiration to paint her authentic concept of the world, who better to describe than the brilliant artist herself:
One exceptionally beautiful afternoon at the pool in 2011, I was struck by the ribbons of sunlight and distortions affecting my daughter through the moving water. I was also keenly aware of catching this lovely, brief moment with her before it flickered by. I grabbed the camera and took numerous photos of her in the water in hopes of finding inspiration for a new painting. I have drawn and painted all my life, but that was the beginning of the Fractured Light series, an exploration that excites and fascinates me to this day. In these works, I pair my dual interests of figurative imagery and colorful abstraction to create paintings that capture the unique feeling and distinct associations of the body suspended in water and time. This series allows me to paint what I love – the figure – while exploring areas of fluid distortion that exist naturally in turbulent, sunlight-drenched water. As a vehicle for life, cleansing, change, renewal and death, water lends meaning to the work. I find this unique atmosphere extraordinary.
Beautiful words from an artist of rare and exquisite quality, whose artistic mind is exploring a world forsaken by so many painters who came before her. Yet it is more enlightening to hear Michele describe her Fine Arts journey in the link to her being interviewed in the link below:

William Blake once saw a world in a grain of sand. However, Michele Poirier Mozzone is taking the world on a journey through a universe of water, capturing the beauty of life’s light forever as it fractures at the origins of life. Now, we see a world that should never be neglected, a world protected in the masterful stroke of a brush, as seen through the perspective of modern-day conceptual genius: Michele Poirier Mozzone.
